Sabah al-Ahmad al-Sabah

Sabah al-Ahmad al-Sabah became Emir of Kuwait after the death of his half-brother, Emir Jaber al-Ahmad al-Sabah. His accession was confirmed by the National Assembly. He inherited a country facing political gridlock and regional tensions.

Under Sabah al-Ahmad al-Sabah's leadership, Kuwait became a major humanitarian donor, providing billions of dollars in aid to Syrian refugees and Yemeni civilians. He hosted international donor conferences. This earned him the title 'Humanitarian Leader' from the UN.

Sabah al-Ahmad al-Sabah mediated the diplomatic crisis between Qatar and a Saudi-led bloc. He shuttled between the parties and hosted negotiations in Kuwait. His efforts helped de-escalate tensions, though the crisis persisted for years.
