Zanabazar

Zanabazar was recognized as the first Jebtsundamba Khutuktu, the highest spiritual authority in Mongolian Buddhism. This recognition established the lineage of reincarnated lamas in Mongolia, central to religious life.

Zanabazar created the Soyombo script, a writing system for Mongolian and Tibetan. The script was used for religious texts and became a symbol of Mongolian identity, though it did not replace the traditional script.

Zanabazar produced numerous Buddhist sculptures and artworks, including the famous 'Zanabazar's White Tara'. His work blended Mongolian and Tibetan styles, influencing Buddhist art in Mongolia.
