Tantia Tope

Tantia Tope led a relief force to break the British siege of Jhansi. His army was defeated by British forces under Sir Hugh Rose, and he was unable to save the city, leading to the fall of Jhansi and the death of Rani Lakshmibai.

Tantia Tope commanded rebel forces at the Battle of Kalpi against the British. Despite initial successes, his army was defeated, forcing him to retreat and continue guerrilla operations in central India.

Tantia Tope and Rani Lakshmibai captured Gwalior from the Scindia ruler, who was allied with the British. This victory briefly established a rebel stronghold, but the British recaptured the city within weeks.

Tantia Tope was captured by British forces after being betrayed by a fellow rebel. He was tried by a British military court and executed by hanging at Shivpuri, ending his role in the rebellion.
