Juan Prim

Prim commanded the Spanish forces that defeated Moroccan troops at the Battle of Castillejos during the Spanish-Moroccan War. The victory contributed to the Spanish capture of Tetouan and the subsequent Treaty of Wad Ras.

Prim was a key leader of the Glorious Revolution, issuing a pronunciamiento that overthrew Queen Isabella II. He served as Minister of War in the provisional government and became the dominant political figure in the search for a new monarch.

Prim was assassinated by unknown gunmen in Madrid while returning to his home. His death occurred just as the new king Amadeo I arrived in Spain, destabilizing the monarchy and contributing to the collapse of the First Spanish Republic.
