Ikrimah ibn Abi Jahl

Ikrimah ibn Abi Jahl, son of Abu Jahl, was a prominent opponent of Muhammad in Mecca. He actively persecuted Muslims and led military campaigns against the early Muslim community before the conquest of Mecca.

After the Muslim conquest of Mecca, Ikrimah ibn Abi Jahl initially fled to Yemen but later returned and converted to Islam. Muhammad accepted his conversion, and he became a dedicated Muslim commander.

Ikrimah ibn Abi Jahl was sent by Caliph Abu Bakr to lead a military campaign against apostate tribes in Yemen during the Ridda Wars. He successfully subdued several rebellious groups, helping to consolidate the caliphate.

Ikrimah ibn Abi Jahl was killed while fighting against the Byzantine Empire at the Battle of Yarmouk. He died a martyr, leading a charge against the enemy lines, and his death was a significant loss for the Muslim army.
