Huascar

After the death of their father Huayna Capac, Huascar and his half-brother Atahualpa fought a civil war for control of the Inca Empire. Huascar initially held the southern capital Cusco, but Atahualpa's northern forces defeated him after years of conflict.

Atahualpa's generals Quizquiz and Chalcuchimac defeated Huascar's army at the Battle of Quipaipan near Cusco. Huascar was captured and imprisoned, effectively ending his rule and leaving Atahualpa as the sole Inca emperor.

After his capture, Huascar was executed on the orders of Atahualpa, who feared a rebellion. The execution occurred while Atahualpa himself was imprisoned by Spanish conquistadors at Cajamarca, weakening Inca resistance to the Spanish.
