Ruler of Fujairah since 1975.
Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi became the Ruler of Fujairah on September 18, 1975, following the death of his father, Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi. He is the current ruler and has overseen the emirate's development within the UAE.
Under Ruler Hamad bin Mohammed, the Port of Fujairah was developed into a major commercial and oil storage hub on the Gulf of Oman. The port became a key alternative to the Strait of Hormuz for oil exports, boosting Fujairah's economy.
Hamad bin Mohammed established the Fujairah Free Zone to attract foreign investment and diversify the emirate's economy beyond oil. The free zone offered tax incentives and streamlined regulations, contributing to economic growth.
