Entemena

Entemena undertook major construction projects at the Eninnu temple in Lagash, dedicated to the god Ningirsu. He recorded these works in inscriptions that provide key evidence of Sumerian architecture and religious practices.

Entemena led Lagash in a war against the neighboring city-state of Umma over border disputes and water rights. He defeated Umma and imposed a treaty that established a permanent boundary, recorded on the famous 'Entemena Cone'.

Entemena negotiated a peace treaty with Umma that was inscribed on a clay cone, one of the earliest known diplomatic documents. The treaty established a boundary line and included provisions for water rights and trade.
