Son of Perseus, king of Mycenae.
Electryon inherited the throne of Mycenae from his father Perseus, the legendary founder of the city. His reign established the Perseid dynasty's control over the Argolid region.
Electryon led a military campaign against the Taphian pirates who had raided Mycenaean territory. The war resulted in the death of Electryon's sons, leaving his daughter Alcmene as his sole heir.
Electryon was accidentally killed by his nephew Amphitryon during a dispute over the return of stolen cattle. This event triggered Amphitryon's exile and the eventual rise of Heracles.
