Dombo

Dombo, a military leader from the Rozvi clan, unified several Shona groups after defeating Portuguese-backed forces at the Battle of Maungwe. He established the Rozvi Empire with its capital at Danangombe, creating a centralized state that resisted Portuguese expansion.

Dombo led a military campaign that expelled Portuguese traders and their African allies from the Zimbabwe plateau. He destroyed Portuguese settlements at Dambarare and Masikwesi, ending Portuguese dominance in the interior for decades.
