Adolph of Cleves

Adolph of Cleves participated in the Burgundian siege of the city of Neuss, part of Charles the Bold's campaign against the Holy Roman Empire. The siege ended inconclusively after a year, draining Burgundian resources.

Adolph of Cleves, as a Burgundian general, fought in the Battle of Nancy where Charles the Bold was killed. The battle ended the Burgundian Wars and led to the collapse of the Burgundian state, with Adolph later serving the Habsburgs.

After the death of Charles the Bold, Adolph of Cleves transferred his allegiance to Maximilian of Austria, serving as a general in the Habsburg campaigns to secure the Burgundian inheritance. He helped suppress revolts in Flanders.
