Compare military power, political achievements, influence, empire size, leadership and legacy across 3,000 years of human history.
Every figure is scored across six data-driven dimensions — Military, Political, Influence, Legacy, Leadership, and Strategy. AI generates deep-dive analysis backed by specific historical events and metrics, not generic opinions.

Every score is calculated through a transparent, data-driven methodology — not personal opinion. Our system evaluates 7,200+ figures across six quantitative dimensions, calibrated against 49 anchor figures with well-documented historical records.
Evaluates battlefield performance, win-loss ratio, scale of forces commanded, territorial expansion through conquest, and lasting military innovations. A score above 80 indicates world-changing military impact (e.g., Genghis Khan, Napoleon). Figures with no military role score at the baseline of 50. Modern military leaders are calibrated against historical counterparts using era-adjusted weighting.
Measures reform effectiveness, diplomatic skill, economic management, institutional stability, and policy execution. Scores reflect actual governance outcomes — legal codes enacted, administrative systems built, economic indicators during rule, and stability of succession. A score of 90+ indicates founding or transforming a lasting political system (e.g., Augustus, Qin Shi Huang).
Quantifies cultural impact, global reach of ideas, ideological legacy, and long-term influence on subsequent generations. Unlike simple popularity metrics, this dimension accounts for both positive contributions (scientific advances, philosophical schools) and historical footprint (empire scale, population affected). Figures whose ideas persist for centuries score highest.
Tracks how long a figure's achievements persisted after their death. Institutional longevity, dynasty duration, continued relevance of reforms, and lasting cultural artifacts all contribute. Short-lived empires score lower; figures whose systems outlasted them by centuries (e.g., Roman legal tradition, Confucian bureaucratic model) score highest.
Assesses organizational command, team cohesion, crisis management, charisma, decision-making quality under pressure, and ability to inspire loyalty. Based on recorded outcomes — successful campaigns managed, administrations led, rebellions suppressed or prevented. Not about being liked; about getting results through others.
Evaluates tactical creativity, military or political innovation, institutional design, and technological advancement during the figure's era. High scores go to figures who changed how war was fought or how states were governed — not just those who won battles. Originality of methods and lasting adoption of innovations drive this score.
Our scoring system uses 49 anchor figures — historically well-documented individuals whose capabilities have been extensively studied by academic historians. These anchors establish the scoring range (0-100) for each dimension through percentile interpolation.
Each figure is then adjusted by era factor (Ancient ×0.85 / Medieval ×0.92 / Modern ×1.00) and civilization factor (Eastern ×1.05 / Western ×1.00 / Other ×0.80). These adjustments account for differences in available historical records and historiographical traditions — not inherent civilizational bias.
All scores carry a ±3 point margin of error per dimension and ±3 points overall. Figures within 3 total points are considered statistically tied.
Primary sources: Academic biographical databases, peer-reviewed historical journals, military campaign records, political chronologies, and institutional histories. We cross-reference multiple sources to minimize single-source bias.
Quantitative data: Where available, we use hard metrics — battle outcome statistics, territorial extent, census data, legislative records, and duration of institutional survival. Subjective assessments are aggregated from multiple scholarly sources.
Known limitations: Ancient figures have sparser records than modern ones (partially corrected by era factors). Non-Western figures may be underrepresented in English-language academic sources. Religious and artistic impact is harder to quantify than military or political impact. We continuously refine our methodology.
