Vasundhara Raje led the Bharatiya Janata Party to victory in the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly election. She was sworn in as the first woman Chief Minister of Rajasthan, serving from December 2003 to December 2008.
Raje led the BJP to a landslide victory in the 2013 Rajasthan assembly elections, winning 163 out of 200 seats. She was sworn in for a second term as Chief Minister, serving from December 2013 to December 2018.
Raje's BJP government lost the 2018 Rajasthan Legislative Assembly election to the Indian National Congress led by Ashok Gehlot. The BJP secured 73 seats against Congress's 100, ending her second term as Chief Minister.
Following the 2018 election defeat, Vasundhara Raje was appointed as the Leader of Opposition in the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly. She held this position until the 2023 assembly elections.
