Mama, four-time Madhya Pradesh CM.
Shivraj Singh Chouhan was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh after the resignation of Babulal Gaur. He led the BJP to victory in the 2008 state elections, beginning his long tenure as CM.
Chouhan launched the Ladli Laxmi Yojana, a conditional cash transfer scheme for girl children. The scheme aimed to improve the sex ratio and promote girls' education, becoming a flagship program of his government.
Chouhan led the BJP to a landslide victory in the 2013 Madhya Pradesh assembly elections, securing a third consecutive term. His government focused on infrastructure, agriculture, and welfare schemes, earning him the nickname 'Mama' (maternal uncle).
Chouhan secured a fourth term as Chief Minister after the BJP won the 2018 Madhya Pradesh elections. His tenure continued with schemes like the Sambal Yojana and faced challenges from the COVID-19 pandemic.
After the BJP's victory in the 2024 general elections, Chouhan was appointed as the Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare in the Modi government. He took charge of agricultural policy and farmer welfare programs.
