KCR founded the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) party to demand a separate Telangana state from Andhra Pradesh. He led mass protests, hunger strikes, and political campaigns, becoming the face of the movement.
After Telangana was formed on June 2, 2014, KCR became its first Chief Minister. He led the TRS to victory in the first assembly elections, promising development and welfare for the new state.
KCR launched the KCR Kits program, providing financial assistance and nutritional supplements to pregnant women. The scheme aimed to reduce maternal and infant mortality rates in Telangana.
KCR introduced the Rythu Bandhu scheme, providing direct cash transfers to farmers for crop investment. The program covered all farmers in Telangana, aiming to reduce debt and improve agricultural productivity.
KCR led the TRS to a decisive victory in the 2018 Telangana assembly elections, winning 88 out of 119 seats. He was sworn in for a second term, continuing his welfare and development agenda.
